50 Days of the the 100 Day Dress Challenge!

For my latest video, I take you on a journey of what it has been like wearing one dress for 50 days. I took the Wool &'s "100 Day Dress Challenge" where you wear one garment for 100 days....I was definitely hesitant to do this because I am really into fashion and have an eclectic taste, always mixing it up, so my first thought was that I was going to lose my identity for awhile. I also do not like the idea of conformity or wearing any kind of uniform, and that is what it felt like right away.

The idea behind the challenge is: simplicity, less waste, looking inward, freeing your mind, saving money and more....

50 days into the challenge, all of these things turned out to be true. It was definitely simpler to just wake up in the morning and put the same dress on, but my creative spirit has to come out, so I did start stying the dress in many different ways, and that actually made me think of fashion in different ways which was fun. I usually have a huge pile of laundry, so having a lot less to wash was great. I hand washed the dress once a week, and my only laundry was different leggings and the occasional shirt or sweater I would pair with it. If it weren't for covid, I would be out thrift store shopping once a month for clothes, but I have been buying some stuff online and wearing one dress stopped that, so I did end up saving money. The Rowena dress I picked out was $138 which was A LOT for me, but when I think about how much I would spend per month at a thrift store-I know I saved money....

The most interesting thing about the experience so far was to release myself of what is called, "The Spotlight Effect," where you feel like you are being noticed way more than you really are. I usually stand out because of my fashion, and I was actually worried that I would stand out because of my LACK of fashion; that my friends would notice I was wearing the same dress every time, but no one noticed anything and my boyfriend didn't care at all...Yes, I am not the center of the universe...
